Ok, I'm not affected by this. But it blows my mind that this is still a problem given the fact that:
- It's such a glaring problem for end-users of the Notes client
- It was found in 8.5 (which went gold in December 2008) and still exists today
- The company is *I*BM
- The product, Lotus Notes, has had support for international characters via LMBCS since... 1996? Worst case is 1999.
- So many functions, regardless of language (@Formula, LS, etc.) have zero problems with this stuff.
It sounds like a basic escaping problem, no doubt with many layers involved which surely adds to the complexity, but I would've thought this would be fixed by now.
I would say check the Fix List Database for 8.5.1 FP1, but it's a ghost town still. Not the greatest sign for something that's supposed to ship next month.
